But when we talk to our graduates after some time on the job, many of them tell us they wish they’d had even EVEN MORE training to help prepare them for real-world situations.
And it makes a lot of sense.
Because when you start your job as a medical interpreter, the pressure is on from the first moment.
The pressure to impress your boss…
The pressure to remember obscure medical terms you’ve only heard a few times…
And the pressure to do the best possible job for your patients, who are relying on you to help them get the critical care they need.
40-hour courses are still the minimum requirement in many places.
But if you want to excel as a medical interpreter, 40 hours isn’t much time to learn a career that can take years to perfect.
That’s why we’ve launched our expanded 80-Hour Medical Interpreter Training– to help driven students like you get 2x more experience and prepare to excel at your new job from the moment you step through those hospital doors…
Breaking Boundaries in Healthcare 2.0 teaches you to practice ethical, accurate medical interpretation through a mix of self-paced video lessons, self-assessment tools, and hands-on guidance.
Over the course of 80 hours of training, you will foster a deep understanding of and respect for National Interpretation Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and learn to approach interpretation dilemmas in a nuanced and careful way.
You’ll learn about introductory and advanced interpreter theory topics and receive all the necessary tools for completing your work. You’ll study each body system by category: anatomy, pathology, causes, symptoms, complications, diagnosis, treatment, terminology, and interpretation practice.
Plus, you’ll receive a weekly 1-hour session with a professional interpretation coach in your target language to practice oral interpretation skills, ask questions, and learn from someone who has actually done the job.
Complete the course materials and pass your final oral exam to receive your widely-recognized 80-Hour Medical Interpreter Training Certificate of Qualification!
This all-new 7-lesson module digs deep into the skills and techniques that working interpreters use every day to help patients and medical professionals communicate at their best.
You’ll learn the note-taking techniques of professional interpreters, take a deep dive into register and learn how to master it, gain new strategies to improve memorization, and more to help you become a more effective interpreter sooner.
If you want to prepare for what life on the job is like, there’s no replacement for live coaching! That’s why our 80-hour course gives you a weekly group coaching session with a professional interpreter in your target language.
Clear up vocabulary confusion, ask all your questions, and practice real-world scenarios so that nothing fazes you when you step into your new job.
(Plus, get 8 months of access to our weekly language-neutral Office Hours, for additional coaching and support!)
Our National Oral Exam Prep course is included free with the 80-hour course. This training features 7 real-world interpretation scenarios with rubrics for self-evaluation.
If you’re looking to get your CCHI or NBCMI certification, it’s custom-designed to help you prepare. Even if you’re not planning to take your national exams right away, these scenarios will get you ready for the types of challenges you’ll face every day on the job.
